Where I Stand
Affordable Housing:
I want to make sure the housing that comes in is thoughtful to the space, not just "how many people can we fit here". I want people to feel home, not housed. Their time at their home is just as if not more important their time at their job. I want to make sure we respect that. I want quality housing, not quantity housing.
Development:
Jackson does not need mega developments; it does not need hundreds of hotel rooms added that we see out of state interests proposing that have no care to how it affects Jackson. We need to seriously curb further development that is putting pressure on our already strained town and infrastructure.
Budget:
Spend less instead of asking for more. Local officials are notorious for “kicking the can down the road”. Seize this issue and tackle it head on. If we don’t have the money we shouldn’t spend it. I want to run a balanced budget before asking taxpayers for more of their money. I want to show we can be responsible spenders.
Parking:
If elected, I will work towards the following goals for our parking and traffic:
No paid parking
Stop the “Parklets” program. A restaurant open 6 days a week for 5 hours a night utilizes multiple spaces and pays a fee disproportionate to their value. 30 hours of use per week to benefit a restaurant versus 168 hours per week at their intended purpose of being parking for locals and visitors…I will fight for the latter.
The use of our streets as storage units for trailers, boats, campers, and lodging needs to be addressed.
